The book LAND OF STORIES THE WISHING SPELL is an Adventure, Fantasy and Fictional book because it has all kinds of magical and mythical creatures ranging from witches to fairies to trolls and wolves. The main characters of the story, they travel the whole land in search of a way home. And all the characters are based upon all the charming fairytale characters we have known since childhood.
Yes, the book does belong to a series. LAND OF STORIES THE WISHING SPELL is the first book of the series THE LAND OF STORIES. There are five more books that are in total, and six are there in the series.
The book has around 400-450 pages in the book. If you are a fast and vivid reader, then maximum it will take you two days to read it. Otherwise, you might take 3-4 days to read it. This book is interesting to read, but it also verses you with many life values and social relationships. I chose this book to read because it teaches me some essential values and bonds, but most importantly, some of its parts exist in me and just how they find solutions to them that way I can learn and see my explanation through them.
According to my opinion, the book is an easy read, not that challenging to read because the author writes the story so that everyone can understand and read quickly. Someone who has never read a novel may find it a bit challenging to read, but otherwise, it’s easy.
I would say the author, Chris Colfer, seems like a first-time author because his words are simple or maybe he intentionally made it simple for children to understand. Other than that, the author is also a renowned actor, so I find it impressing that way. In the last book, he mentions that he started writing this series from when he was in 3rd grade, and that’s impressing. He is also #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author and a Golden Globe-winning actor.
In some way, there are parts where it does not differ much from other books of the same genre, but some features are thoroughly compared from other books. For instance, the other texts only focus on making the book seem interesting, and they use so much wordplay that people don’t get the idea of the plot. But in this case, the book has used simple words and yet made it enjoyable to read.
The book is written informally because the author seems to have written it in a friendly manner and addressing people. The author wants his readers to enjoy the book to its fullest. And as mentioned earlier, the author keeps his language simple and fun to read because its target is young children, so keeping it simple is best. But I have to admit that everything is simple, and it still is remarkable in its way.
Everyone and Anyone can read it from young children to young adults to adults and elders. The book is fun to read even though elders might find it childish, but still, I assure you they will enjoy it, just like the Harry Potter or Percy Jackson series.
No, the book is written in regular prose just like any other fictional novels. It is not a poetry book, so it’s normal.
The book’s main characters are the Bailey twins, Alex Bailey & Conner Bailey, one is a bookworm, and other is a class clown. They are both opposite personalities, and they find their way out of the fairytale world through Wishing Spell. The antagonist is none other than the Evil Queen and yes, the same one in Snow White’s story. She continues to stop the twins throughout the story and even make deals if necessary. However, the twins don’t obtain the Wishing Spell, and the Evil Queen does. But after they trap the Evil Queen in the mirror, they get back to their world with the help of their grandmother who is none other than our lovely Fairy Godmother.
Alex Bailey is known to be a mastermind and a bookworm in her class. She excels all her classmates and even her parents. Thus, many of her classmates and those around her did not particularly like her and considered her a teacher’s pet. She was not sociable and did not have any friends, and due to this, she sometimes wished to be like her brother Conner. On the other hand, Conner Bailey was a class clown and lazed headed. He slept through most of his classes and did not get good marks on tests. He got detention slips, punishments and whatnot, and he wanted to be like Alex. He had friends, and he had the freedom to do whatever he wanted. But most of all, both of them love each other no matter what the consequences. Later it is revealed that Evil Queen was never evil. Before she created havoc for Snow White, she had her own life and was known as Evely. She loved a boy named Mira but the enchantress who was her captor trapped Mira in Evly’s mirror. All her life Evely wanted to free Mira from the mirror, and for that, she tried any means she could get even killing Snow White seemed possible. She went after the Wishing Spell because she knew that it could grant her the wish but finally, when she did Mira was exhausted. The mirror had taken away all his memories and life energy, and he died in Evly’s arms, and Evely was trapped in the mirror for eternity.
No, they act like real people except for ones who are evil.
The protagonists look like humans, but biologically they are half-human and half-fairy because of their parents. Many others are either human or fairy, troll, frog, goblin, or wolf. Other than humans, all others are fantastical or fictional beings.
Yes, they face many conflicts. They might be personal conflicts or conflicts while travelling. For instance, the twins had lost their father on their last birthday from the book’s start. Their father was very dear to them, and he used to narrate stories to them when they were children to solve their problems. But after his death, everything took a turn in their life. They weren’t as happy as before, and their mother tried to make ends meet for the house. In short, you can say, they faced family conflicts.
As I said, family problems, relationship problems and brother-sister problems too. Emotional and physical issues are included.
Well, that’s difficult to say because I like pretty much everyone. Although I want Goldilocks, she is a pretty woman with golden hair and blue eyes sparkling like the water. Not any woman but a warrior. Fierce and powerful. With a sense of justice. Since she has committed many crimes of stealing, she is banned and wanted in every kingdom. She is on the run with her cream-coloured horse called Porridge.
We learn about characters from things they do and say, as well as something other characters say about them. You may wish to include examples of these things.
Well, the first thing I learnt from the story was never to give up on something you aspire to do. Second is never grieve on something you have lost, learn to move on. The third is how to find your happily ever after. It isn’t a finish line; it isn’t a paradise and isn’t a phenomenon that makes all your dreams come true. Happily ever after is about finding happiness within yourself and holding on to it through any storm that comes your way.
Well there isn’t a past, present or future for the book. The story’s setting is set in the Fairytale world where all the fairytale characters have grown up, and changes have occurred. Usually, since ancient times, both the planets have been revolving around each other differently. The fairytale world’s revolution is much slower, so the time is much slower in the Fairytale world than in Otherworld. When both were born, the worlds started to revolve around each other at the same speed and time. This phenomenon occurred because the twins were born- the first children of both the worlds. So the time in both the worlds became relatively the same.
The set is set in both the worlds. The world we know, they call it Otherworld, and the fantastical world is called Fairytale world.
Exactly. There are fantastical creatures like fairies, trolls and goblins. And some animals can talk, for example, wolves like Malumclaw and a frog-like Froggy, etc.
No, the story is not at all fuzzy. You can easily create a movie in your mind. As I said, the author used simple words to describe every single detail. You can easily imagine being in a forest or a castle or a tower.
The author tries to appeal to you very intensely with the setting. He uses words like bright green Moses, tall trees, dirt path, which indicated that they were in a forest. The author tries to describe the protagonist’s experience, and you feel like you are experiencing the same thing.
The book was perfect and complete. If you read the other books and finish the series, you will indeed feel satisfied. Even if someone thinks that something is missing, the author is just trying to take better of you and capture your mind so that his readers keep on thinking what’s next and get immersed with the story.
A- Well, I couldn’t think about any other proper and good ending than the author did. Pretty much the same thing except Mira should have been saved and not died after he came out of the mirror. It is just so heartbreaking for him to die just after he came out.
