What is Event Management?

As the name suggests, E.M is about managing events. This includes planning, conceptualizing, organization, coordination, smooth running, etc. to make an event successful. This is a field in which both creativity and management go hand in hand.

If you choose hotel management as a career, you may need to work for long and odd hours. E.M course aims to provide and combine knowledge on planning, analyzing and marketing strategies in business administration to its students.

Eligibility Criteria for Doing Event Management Course

Like any other course, E.M courses can also be done at UG & PG Levels. Let’s take a look at the following eligibility criteria for both UG & PG Courses.

For Certificate & Diploma Course – There is a basic requirement for certificate & diploma courses that are completing 12th standard with a minimum percentage of 50.

For Undergraduate Courses- For doing undergraduate courses, a candidate must have passed his or her 12th standard from a recognized board. He or She should have scored at least 50% in his or her 12th standard. There is no requirement of a particular stream.

For Postgraduate Courses – For doing postgraduate courses, a candidate must have completed their graduation at least with a score of 55% to 60%. Any Graduation degree is acceptable. However, if a candidate has done graduation in mass communication or management studies is preferable.

Courses Available In Event Management

In E.M various courses are available at different levels. Candidates have to also appear for some entrance examinations to do pg. courses such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, etc.  These courses can be certificate courses, diploma courses, bachelor’s degree courses, and master’s degree courses.

BA in E.M

BBA in E.M

BBA in E.M & PR (public relations)

All these Bachelor’s degree courses are of 3 years duration.

Master’s Degree Courses in Event Management

MA in PR & E.M

All these Master’s degree courses are of 2 years duration.

Diploma in E.M

All of these Diploma courses are of 1 year’s duration.

This course duration varies from institution to institution. However, its duration lies between 3 months to 6 months.
