If you want to get into the field of textile designing, the first thing you need to check off the list is my passion for fabric and everything that belong in that field.

You need to have a creative imagination about things and will need to have intuition about what color goes with what shape and the texture of the fabric or other materials as well.

It is not a skill that you can develop in one day. You need to develop it, as you spend more time on fabrics and learn how to understand them.

Courses

For candidates, who want to make a career in this field, there are several courses to choose from. These courses range from diplomas to undergraduate and to even Masters. The undergraduate degree can take 3-4 years to complete while the Master’s level degree takes 2 years.

Bachelor Degree Courses

  2. Bachelor of Fine Arts

Master Degree Courses

  1. Master of Design
  2. Master of Arts
  3. Master of Fine Arts

The UG course fee in textile designing starts from Rs 40,000 to Rs 3-4 lakh and above. It depends on the university to university.

Requirements

In terms of scholarly which is most important unless you are a genius in the fabric designing zone and have connections in the industry, you need to follow these steps:

  1. You can take any stream for your class 12 board examination.
  2. Textile design candidates can take any course such as Industrial designing, Bachelors of Arts in Design, Bachelors of Arts in Textile, and Bachelors of Fine Arts.
  3. The students will study the basics of items such as texture, shapes, and colors.
  4. If you want to do a master’s in the same course following your undergraduate program. Once you are done with your scholarly, you need to get into the field.

Candidates must have these skills required that are mentioned below:

  1. Great understanding of fabric
  2. Good Knowledge of color, shapes, sizes, and texture of different combinations of fabric.
  3. Better communication skills to handle your clients
