New Path to Teaching Careers: Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP)
Considering a career in teaching? The National Education Policy 2020 introduces the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a game-changer for aspiring educators.
What is ITEP?
This four-year program replaces the traditional B.Ed. as the standard route for government school teachers. It integrates B.A., B.Sc., or B.Com. with teacher training, saving you a year. After 2030, ITEP will be the sole pathway for government teacher recruitment. However, B.Ed. continues for academic pursuits like Masters and PhD.
Benefits of ITEP
- Reduced Time: Get teaching qualified in just four years.
- Broader Knowledge: ITEP goes beyond pedagogy, covering Early Childhood Care, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, Inclusive Education, and Indian values.
- Strong Foundation: Develop the skills and knowledge to be a well-rounded teacher.
Who can Apply?
Anyone who has passed 12th from a recognized Indian institution can apply. This opens doors for students to enter teaching careers directly after high school.
How to Apply?
The National Testing Agency conducts a computer-based entrance exam in 13 languages. The objective-type exam covers subjects from your 12th standard, including language, general knowledge, current affairs, and reasoning abilities.
