Mohan Babu University Hosts 33rd Annual Sports Day
Tirupati, 14th January 2025: Mohan Babu University (MBU) marked its 33rd Annual Sports Day with a vibrant showcase of athletic excellence, teamwork, and competitive spirit at its campus grounds, in the presence of Dr. K. Laxman, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Hyderabad, who attended the event as Chief Guest. The proceedings were presided over by Shri Mauvin Godinho, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Panchayats, Housing and Protocol, Government of Goa.
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of 100% sports scholarships at Mohan Babu University for students enrolling in the 2026–27 academic year. The scholarship programme will initially cover Cricket, Basketball, and Badminton, offering comprehensive support including academics, professional coaching, nutrition, training, and infrastructure, guided by top coaches from India and abroad.
Students from across disciplines participated enthusiastically in multiple sporting disciplines. The celebrations featured ceremonial marches, sporting demonstrations, cultural performances, and the finals of key competitions, concluding with prize distribution and recognition of outstanding individual and team achievements.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. K. Laxman said, “Sports play a critical role in shaping discipline, resilience, and leadership among young people. It is encouraging to see institutions like MBU creating structured platforms that nurture sporting talent alongside academic excellence, contributing meaningfully to the nation’s future.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vishnu Manchu, Pro-Chancellor, Mohan Babu University, said, “Sports form a core pillar of our educational philosophy. With the introduction of 100% sports scholarships, we aim to remove barriers for talented athletes and create an ecosystem where students can pursue high-performance sports alongside rigorous academics. Our long-term vision is clear to nurture athletes who can represent India at the highest global मंच, including the Olympics.”
The University also shared its long-term objective of developing sportspersons capable of competing at the highest levels, including the Olympics by 2036, in alignment with India’s broader sporting ambitions, through a structured and sustainable approach to athlete development.
