Mohan Babu Univ, ISRO, NARL Mark Space Day
Tirupati, 09th August 2024 – Mohan Babu University (MBU) is proud to host “National Space Day 2024” in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL). This significant event underscores the university’s commitment to advancing academic and space exploration synergies in India. It also highlights MBU’s recent student achievements, including the successful launch of a High-Altitude Balloon Satellite in partnership with ISRO and NARL.
The occasion commemorated the first anniversary of the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s successful soft landing on the moon’s southern polar region, an achievement that earned August 23 the title of “National Space Day” by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event showcased India’s pioneering spirit in space exploration and transformed MBU’s campus into a vibrant hub of scientific discovery and innovation.
Over 1,000 students from across 30 Colleges & 25 schools, along with prominent figures from the space community and academia, participated in this momentous event. The highlight was an inspiring address by Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, whose visionary insights underscored India’s space achievements and future aspirations. Distinguished dignitaries including Shri A. Rajarajan, Director of SHAR; Dr. A.K. Patra, Director of NARL; and Dr. Anil Bharadwaj, Director of PRL, elevated the significance of the occasion.
The event featured the “Space on Wheels” exhibition, offering cutting-edge space technology experiences, virtual reality simulations of the lunar surface, and thought-provoking lectures on interplanetary missions. Workshops explored the societal impacts of space exploration, while dynamic start-ups like Satsure, Skyroot and LEOS presented their groundbreaking contributions. The celebration was further enhanced by lectures, quizzes, and exhibitions designed to inspire and educate the next generation of space enthusiasts and leaders.
