TOP MBA ENTRANCE EXAMS IN INDIA IN 2022

There are many students who choose MBA as a career. There are more than 3000 MBA colleges that offer more than 8500 different types of MBA courses in India. To pursue an MBA, they have to clear the MBA entrance examination. There are many MBA entrance exams in India which are conducted at national, state and university levels.

Top MBA exams in India include CAT, XAT, IIFT, MAH CET, SNAP, IBSAT, NMAT, CMAT etc.

CAT is the most popular MBA entrance exam in India. CAT is an IIM administered entrance examination. In India, more than 1,200 MBA colleges select candidates for admission on the basis of marks obtained in this CAT entrance examination.

The second most popular examination after CAT is CMAT. CMAT conducted by the NTA. CMAT entrance examination score is accepted by 1,000 MBA colleges across India.

The third most popular MBA entrance examination is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur that is XAT. XAT score is accepted by over 800 MBA colleges in India.

TOP MBA ENTRANCE EXAMS

CAT

CAT i.e. Common Administration Test is the most popular MBA entrance examination which is conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). It is a national level entrance exam. If candidates clear the CAT entrance exam, they can take admission in different management programmers at reputed IIMs (Indian Institute of Management).

More than two lakh students appear for the exam each year. These 2 lakh candidates compete for more than 5100 seats.

The CAT question paper consists of 100 questions (MCQs) to be solved in 180 minutes.

The CAT exam consists of three sections: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning.

CMAT

The Common Management Admission Test or CMAT is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is also a national level entrance examination. As we have stated above, it is the second most important entrance exam for MBA. Around 70,000 students appear for the CMAT entrance exam. There are more than 1,000 MBA institutions which accept the exam score of CMAT. 

CMAT is a totally computer based entrance exam. It is held for a duration of 180 minutes. CMAT tests the candidate’s aptitude in four main sections:

  1. Quantitative Technique
  2. Logical Reasoning 
  3. Language Comprehension
  4. General Awareness

XAT

Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT is another top management entrance exam. It is conducted by Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur, . It is a national level entrance exam. XAT is one of the top entrance tests for MBA. Almost one lakh students appear for this entrance exam.

XAT scores are accepted by more than 800 institutions. XAT exam tests the candidate on four fronts:

SNAP

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is a University level entrance exam. This entrance exam is conducted by Symbiosis International University. Score of this SNAP entrance examination is considered for taking admission into 16 institutes under Symbiosis International University.

SNAP entrance exam is of 2 hours and is a computer based exam. It tests candidates on:

  1. General English
  2. Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
  3. Analytical & Logical Reasoning

MAT

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is also a very popular MBA entrance exam. Conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA). This MAT entrance exam is held four times a year in the months of February, May, September and December. More than 600 institutes accept MAT exam scores for taking admission into management programmers.

The exam is held in Computer Based Test (CBT), Paper Based Test (PBT) mode and Internet Based Test (IBT) mode. The MAT entrance exam is for 150 minutes. MAT consists of 200 questions and the candidates are tested on the following subjects:

  1. Indian and Global Environment
  2. Language Comprehension
  3. Data Analysis and Sufficiency
  4. Mathematical Skills
  5. Intelligence and Critical Reasoning

IIFT

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is one of the top institutes which provides education in management courses. This is a national level entrance exam. This exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). Candidates who are interested in pursuing an MBA in International Business programme can apply for this exam.

This entrance exam contains 110 questions and is 2 hours long. It consists of multiple choice questions. It tests a candidate’s aptitude in the following areas:

  1. English Comprehension
  2. General Knowledge & Awareness
  3. Logical Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Analysis 

ATMA

AIMS Test for Management Admissions or ATMA is also a national-level management entrance test. More than 200 MBA colleges offer MBA admission on the basis of ATMA exam score. This test is recognized by AICTE and Ministry of HRD, Government of India and is conducted across all the states in India.

This exam contains 180 questions and is held for 3 hours. ATMA question paper consists of the following sections:

  1. Analytical Reasoning Skills Part 1
  2. Analytical Reasoning Skills Part 2
  3. Quantitative Skills Part 1
  4. Quantitative Skills Part 2
  5. Verbal Skills Part 1
  6. Verbal Skills Part 2

IBSAT

ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test or IBSAT is an institute-level entrance test. ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education conducts this entrance examination. IBSAT entrance exam score is used for taking admission in PhD and MBA programmers. ICFAI Business School (IBS) offers admission in its nine campuses Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Kolkata, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Bangalore.

IBSAT Is A Computer Based Test (CBT) And Consists Of Multiple Choice Questions. IBSAT Is Of 2 Hours Duration. It assesses the candidate’s ability in the following:

  1. Verbal Ability
  2. Reading Comprehension
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. Data Adequacy & Data Interpretation

OJEE MBA

The Government of Orissa conducts a state-level MBA entrance test Odisha Joint Entrance Exam or OJEE i.e. state level entrance exam. OJEE is an online entrance exam.

It contains 120 questions and 120 minutes for the candidates to solve these questions. OJEE MBA has five sections:

  1. Verbal reasoning
  2. Analytical reasoning
  3. General Knowledge
  4. Comprehension
  5. Computer and Business fundamentals
