Career Changemakers recently concluded HR Tech Conference. HR leaders from various industries convened at Lemon Tree Premier in Gurgaon on 1st July, for various sessions including panel discussions, keynote presentations and networking sessions.
With the theme of ‘technology’, the focus was on exploring ways to leverage technology in various HR processes, how to enhance employee experience in the era of ChatGPT or artificial intelligence and prepare for uncertainties in VUCA world.

Vishnu Dutt Sharma, IIM Bangalore Alumni, Global Business Head, BYJU’s, kicked off the event with a captivating keynote address where he emphasized on using Artificial intelligence (A.I) in various processes, discussed impact of A.I on productivity, technology driven transformation in various HR processes across industries. He also emphasized that understanding of human emotions is equally important to drive employee performance and further focused on importance of up-skilling, re-skilling to stay relevant in our jobs.
“Adapt, Change, Learn, Up-skill, Re-skill, Multiply your intelligence by leveraging various tech tools – That’s how you grow in your profession”, says Vishnu.
ChatGPT was recently released and it has already started to have an impact on various aspects of life and work. A.I can influence work in terms of jobs, new ways of working, collaboration and creativity.
After keynote, there was a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Atish Bhattacharya, Head – Human Resources at Okaya & Mtek. Topic for the discussion was ‘How to leverage technology to build high performing teams’. On the panel, there were HR leaders from various organizations, including Amit Kataria, CHRO at Minfy; Mridusmita Roy, Human Resources Lead at Ajackus; Neha Paul, Sr. Human Resources at Prescient Healthcare Group; Neha Aggarwal, Deputy General Manager – Human resources at Hitachi; Sushma Sharma, Human Resources Manager at SBI Card.
The discussion centered on how goals/KPI can be developed and ways to track them using technology and automation. While some of the leaders believe that AI powered tools can greatly enhance performance of employees, others are skeptical as one needs to adapt to the era of technology with greater agility and flexibility.
In the era of transformation, Organizations are also loosing some of their workforce due to factors such as redundancy of jobs, lack of skill-set etc. Panel discussed ways to enhance performance of teams, retain talent and spoke about tools that can drive performance.
There were two more keynote presentations. One of them was delivered by Piyusha vir, Manager at Vocallea. In her power talk, she described ways to build inclusive workplaces enabled by technology.
She highlighted that forward-thinking companies are actively working towards gender parity by implementing initiatives such as mentorship programs, unconscious bias training, and diverse hiring practices. Technology serves as an enabler for all of these efforts. “By fostering a culture of lifelong learning and re-skilling, we can ensure that women are at the forefront of this digital revolution, leading to increased diversity and representation across sectors”, says Piyusha.
Organizations like Dell, Accenture, and several others have been sharing knowledge through articles, reels, online webinars on various topics of Tech Awareness, careers in Meta universe, cyber security, etc, not just for their employees but also general public.
Next keynote address was delivered by Dr. Nancy Juneja, Founder and CEO at RevUP; Co-founder at MentorX. Dr.Juneja spoke about importance of innovation, entrepreneurship in the era of technology. While it’s great to think about new technologies like IoT, ChatGPT, the trends that drive real business value will be the ones like Social networking, Cloud, Mobile, and Data Analytics. It’s really the convergence of these tech trends coming together that are creating opportunities, says Dr. Juneja.
In the closing session of the conference, which was moderated by Neeru Monga, Location HR Lead, Manager – Human Resources at Deloitte, the panel discussed ways to bridge the Industry-academia gap and how to build synergies. The panel featured Amrita Singh, Head-Human resources at IT by Design, Sunanda Rao, Head-Human Resources at Aaveg, Dheeraj jain, FMS Alumni, Director-Human resources at ReGraduate, Surbhi Soni, MDI Gurgaon Alumni, Assistant Manager-HR at KPMG.
During the discussion, panel discussed challenges faced by academia and what industry needs. Panel also brainstormed on the ways through which academia and industry can collaborate. Surbhi highlighted skills that are essential for entry level jobs and Amrita provided her insights on ways to enhance employability of students. Dheeraj and Sunanda shared their perspective on best practices that organizations have implemented to build synergies between industry and academia.
Panel also highlighted need of faculty from academia to interact with the industry to better understand the changing ways of the corporate sector, explored ways to collaborate with each other such as internships, mentoring, live projects etc.
Students need to develop strategic mindset in order to succeed in the dynamic world.
